A 16-year agency relationship is getting a major upgrade. AIC Hotel Group, the North American commercial arm behind Hard Rock Hotels, the UNICO Hotel Collection, AVA Resort Cancun, and Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, has named Alliance Connection its agency of record for integrated public relations and influencer marketing across North American trade and consumer markets.

The expanded remit goes well beyond the brand partnership and experiential marketing work Alliance Connection has handled since its founding. The agency will now lead public relations strategy, influencer marketing, content collaborations, executive thought leadership programs, and resort launch campaigns — a scope that reflects how significantly the path to booking a luxury resort stay has shifted.

The Discovery Shift

The strategic rationale is rooted in evolving traveler behavior. Deloitte's 2025 holiday travel research found that more than half of Gen Z travelers rely on short-form social video for destination research, and generative AI adoption for trip planning has accelerated sharply. For operators in the all-inclusive and luxury resort segment, that means earned media placements and influencer content now function as primary discovery channels, not supplementary ones.

"The future of resort marketing belongs to brands that can create cultural relevance, emotional connection, and visibility across every touchpoint of the consumer journey," said Oscar Serrano, VP of Global Marketing at AIC Hotel Group. Melissa Mango, Founder and President of Alliance Connection, framed the challenge as a structural one: "The old model of separating PR, influencers, social media, partnerships, and guest engagement simply no longer reflects how modern visibility works."

A Busy Portfolio Pipeline

The timing is deliberate. AIC Hotel Group is entering an active expansion phase across its portfolio. Upcoming milestones include the debut of UNICO 18°N 77°W Montego Bay, full reinventions of Hard Rock Hotels Cancun and Vallarta, the continued expansion of Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, new guest experience programming at AVA Resort Cancun, and elevated culinary and accommodations offerings at Nobu Hotel Los Cabos. Alliance Connection will develop integrated campaigns designed to build awareness and drive conversion among North American travelers for each of these launches.

For hospitality operators watching this move, the structure of the engagement is as instructive as the appointment itself. Rather than distributing PR, influencer, and content functions across separate specialist shops, AIC Hotel Group is consolidating them under one agency with a unified brief — a model that prioritizes message consistency and coordinated timing across what Mango describes as "moments, conversations, recommendations, and culture" rather than discrete media channels.

The integrated agency-of-record approach is gaining traction across the hospitality industry as brand teams contend with fragmented attention and the rising cost of paid media. For all-inclusive resorts competing on experience differentiation, earned credibility through creator content and editorial coverage carries outsized weight in the consideration phase — a dynamic that parallels shifts in food and beverage brand marketing where influencer reach has increasingly displaced traditional advertising in driving trial and loyalty.
