Braun Household is entering the at-home coffeehouse category with the OptiBrew lineup, a two-model drip coffee maker range that moves well beyond the traditional single-brew-style pot. The line—comprising the standard OptiBrew and the more feature-rich OptiBrew Pro—targets consumers whose daily coffee routines now rival what they once reserved for a café visit, a behavioral shift that has reshaped both beverage industry product strategy and retail shelf expectations.
What the Machines Do
Both models are built around Braun's ExactBrew™ Technology, which automatically calibrates brewing time and temperature for each cup. Seven brew sizes span from a single 8-oz. cup to a full 12-cup carafe, all using ground coffee with no pods required. Four brew styles—Regular, Bold, Over Ice, and Cold Brew—are available across the lineup, and Braun's cold brew process delivers results in minutes rather than the overnight steep typically required. A full carafe brews in under eight minutes, a detail relevant for high-traffic household mornings or, notably, for operators considering in-room or self-serve hospitality applications.
The Pro Tier's Operator Angle
OptiBrew Pro adds a fifth brew style—a concentrated Coffee Shot—along with an integrated whisk frother capable of frothing hot or cold milk and milk alternatives into foam for latte- and cappuccino-style drinks. The frother eliminates the need for a separate appliance, keeping the footprint compact at 6.75 inches wide. Both machines include a 24-hour programmable timer and a keep-warm function that holds carafe temperature for up to four hours. "Coffee routines have become much more varied, but the traditional drip coffee maker hasn't always kept pace," said Eliza Woolston Sheffield, President of De'Longhi North America. "With OptiBrew, we saw an opportunity to rethink a familiar kitchen essential, bringing greater choice and convenience to the everyday coffee routine without adding complexity or taking over the countertop."
Pricing and Availability
OptiBrew Pro carries a U.S. retail price of $199.95 and is available at Amazon, Target, and BraunHousehold.com. In Canada, it is priced at $249.99 CAD via Amazon and BraunHousehold.com; the standard OptiBrew is available in Canada for $199.99 CAD through BraunHousehold.com. The launch reflects a broader trend in restaurant and hospitality equipment design—slim, multi-function machines that compress the café menu into a format practical for both households and small-footprint hospitality environments. As coffee expectations among consumers continue to rise, brands that supply or specify beverage equipment for lodging, extended-stay, and boutique hospitality concepts will find the OptiBrew Pro's cold brew and frothing capabilities worth tracking.
