A 138-bottle, cask-strength Añejo built from two sequential barrel maturations is now the rarest expression in Tequila Partida's Roble Fino lineup, landing at $199.99 per bottle and available exclusively through Southern Spirits in Indian Land, South Carolina.

The Maturation Process

Maestro Tequilero José Valdez Reynoso built the liquid in two stages. The distillate first rested for 26 months in an American oak barrel that had previously held Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey for three years. It then spent six additional months in a Sherry Single Malt cask that carried a 24-year history with Single Malt Scotch Whisky followed by three years of Oloroso Sherry. The result was bottled uncut at 54.5% ABV (109 proof) directly from a single barrel — making it the first cask-strength release within the Roble Fino range.

"This is a unique Añejo that preserves the clean agave character and distinctive minerality of Tequila Partida while adding remarkable depth and complexity from the two different oak maturation stages," said Reynoso.

What Operators Should Know

For beverage directors and on-premise accounts, the release signals a growing appetite for ultra-premium, limited-run tequila expressions that borrow finishing techniques more commonly associated with Scotch and craft whiskey. The dual-cask approach — American oak whiskey barrel followed by a decades-seasoned Sherry cask — mirrors strategies that have elevated collector interest and per-bottle price points across aged spirits categories. With only 138 bottles in existence, this expression is unlikely to reach bar programs at scale, but its structure offers a case study in how premium agave brands are competing for shelf space in the fine spirits hospitality segment.

Southern Spirits, which partnered with Partida on the project, described the collaboration as a push to create something unprecedented within the Roble Fino collection. The retailer, which has operated in the Carolinas for nearly two decades and carries more than 5,000 spirits SKUs, will host a launch event on October 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST, with Reynoso on hand to meet guests. Bottles are purchasable in-store or online, though out-of-state buyers must travel to South Carolina to complete an in-store transaction due to state shipping regulations.

Brand and Distribution Context

Tequila Partida, founded in 2005 and produced in the Valley of Jalisco, Mexico, is part of the Lucas Bols portfolio — a global cocktail and spirits company active in more than 110 countries whose brands include Bols, Passoã, and Galliano. The Roble Fino collection sits at the top of Partida's aged expressions and has drawn recognition from competitions including the Global Spirits Masters and the New Orleans Spirits Competition. This single barrel release represents the first time the brand has bottled a Roble Fino expression at cask strength, a move that may hint at further experimental releases for a category where collector culture and on-premise storytelling increasingly intersect.
