New Orleans Brewery Event Blends Beer, Food, and Local Traditions Urban South Brewery will host Boot Scootin' Boogie Weekend on July 17–18, a two-day celebration combining live entertainment, food competitions, and family-friendly activities. Friday's lineup kicks off with Chicken Sh!t Bingo, a free-to-play game sponsored by A&A Acres, a locally owned family farm in Loranger, Louisiana. The event uses live chickens to determine winning squares, with prizes awarded throughout the evening. The day also features 90s Country Line Dancing with Giddy Up Two Step, offering instruction for all skill levels set to favorite '90s country hits. Tickets for the line dancing class are available through Giddy Up Two Step. Saturday brings the return of Battle of the BBQ at 4 p.m., pitting teams Pork Tchoupitoulas and Pork Illustrated against each other. Attendees will sample both teams' signature barbecue and cast votes to determine the winner. BBQ plates featuring both competitors' offerings will be available for purchase beginning at 4 p.m. until sellout. The weekend concludes with a live performance by 90 Degrees West from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. "Boot Scootin' Boogie Weekend is our way of celebrating where Urban South began, the beers that helped define the people who have been part of our journey," said Jacob Landry, Co-Founder of Urban South Brewery. "By expanding the celebration into a full weekend, we're able to give our community even more ways to experience our Louisiana roots while enjoying great beer, food and the traditions that have become part of the Urban South story." Admission to the weekend is free and open to the public. The brewery encourages guests to arrive early to experience all activities, food offerings, and entertainment.

Why It Matters

Brewery-hosted events remain a key driver of traffic and brand loyalty in the craft beer sector.

By tying the celebration to local agriculture partnerships and regional food traditions, Urban South reinforces its positioning as a community-embedded operator rather than a transactional beverage supplier—a distinction that increasingly matters to consumers making purchasing decisions.
